Goeson, Edna Marguerite

Mrs. Edna Marguerite Goeson, beloved wife of the late Arthur Goeson, passed away on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, in Fort Macleod Extendicare at the age of 86 years.
Edna will be deeply missed by her daughter Faye (Albert) Van Deurzen and granddaughters Nancy and Amy, of Lethbridge; her sister, Ruby Munro and family of Carp, Ont.; her brother-in-law Lyndon Goeson and family of Nanaimo, B.C.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Edna was predeceased by her daughter June in 1995; brother John Preston; half sisters Edith Pratt and Agnes Pedersen; her parents Robert and Beatrice Preston; brothers-in-law Donald Munro, Alec Pratt, Louis Pedersen, Clayton, Walter, Cecil, Glen and Boyd Goeson; sisters-in-law Dorothy Goeson, Evelyn Preston and Audrey (Goeson) Bell; and niece Susan (Preston) Hall.
Mom was born April 1, 1920 in Billings Bridge, a suburb of Ottawa, Ont. She took secretarial training at Ottawa High School of Commerce and worked in the West Bloc of the Parliament Buildings for four years.
She met LAC Art Goeson through her brother John, as they were in the Air Force together.
They were married May 25, 1944 in the Gloucester Presbyterian Church and traveled west by train, settling in Fort Macleod where they resided until their passing.
Edna was a real homemaker and a very loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to travel and took several bus trips across Canada and the United States. She also toured the British Isles, European continent and visited Hawaii on three occasions.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Trinity United Church, Fort Macleod, with Rev. Aldeen McKay officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery.
