Bertha Nazarek, aged 90 years of Fort Macleod, passed away on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 at Fort Macleod, dear mother and mother-in-law of Faye and Harvey Malachowski. She is also survived by one grandson Cody Miller (Amy Steele) of Calgary; two brothers, Walter (Joyce) of Dawson Creek, B.C. and Gordon (Belva) of Three Hills. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ed in 1995 and a brother Salvin in 1994. Mom was born in her grandparents┬╣ house Dec. 4, 1915 at Sunnyslope, Alta., and attended Kneehill school. When she was 19 she left the farm to work as a domestic maid in Calgary, for seven months of the year, and after nine years moved to Calgary, getting a job at Burns Packing Plant. She met Ed and they married in 1945, and in 1948 purchased a home in the Ramsay district and resided there for 42 years. Mom was an avid card player and enjoyed bowling, bingo, fishing and travelling, stamp collecting and music. Mom and Dad moved to Stavely in 1994, and after Dad┬╣s passing in 1995 she moved to Fort Macleod and has resided here ever since. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fort Macleod Extendicare for the loving, compassionate care they provided Mom over the past few years, and to all those people who have touched her life along the way. Donations to Fort Macleod Extendicare would be greatly appreciated, if you so desire. Funeral services were held in Calgary on Friday, Feb. 10, 2006.
