Richardt, Ida Karoline

Ida Karoline Richardt of Macleod Pioneer Lodge, Fort Macleod, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years on Friday, March 10, 2006, at St. Michael¹s Heath Care Center’s Palliative Care Unit in Lethbridge. Ida was born on Jan. 30, 1913, in Pincher Creek, where she lived most of her life, marrying her husband Henry Richardt on Nov. 21, 1934, and raising their family. She was the oldest member of Trinity Lutheran Church Pincher Creek. In 1982 Ida and Henry moved to Fort Macleod where she enjoyed her passion for gardening and traveling, making many new friends on their journeys. Ida was a lifelong member of the Senior Citizens Welcome Mat in Fort Macleod. She is survived by her daughter Doreen (Cleon) Friesen of Lethbridge; brothers Ernest Hahn of Pincher Creek and Carl Hahn of Lethbridge; sisters Dorthea Cyr, Helen Nelson, Adeline Sorge and Edna Drevanek, all of Pincher Creek, and Martha Glines of Fort Saskatchewan; grandchildren Robert (Lori) Friesen of Sherwood Park, David of Calgary, Glen (Elsie) Friesen of Coaldale and Laura (Andrew) Sommerville of Calgary; great grandchildren Bryce and Dedra Friesen of Sherwood Park, Adam and Jacqueilne Friesen of Coaldale; daughters-in-law Eva Richardt of Medicine Hat and Patricia Richardt of Golden B.C.; numerous nieces, nephews and the many people who she referred to as ‘There’s my boy’ or ‘There’s my girl.’ Ida was predeceased by her loving husband Henry in 1983; sons Elmer in 1987 and Melvin in 2005; two sisters, Louise and Ann; and also two brothers, Dan and Norman. A celebration of life service will be held at Granum Lutheran Church, Granum, on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Wellenscheg officiating. A private internment of ashes will be held at the Pincher Creek Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
