Perry, Mae

Mae Perry was born in Pincher Creek on Aug. 14, 1918 and passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, in Calgary at the age of 88.
A service with family and friends was held at Foster’s Garden Chapel in Calgary on Friday, Jan. 12 followed by interment at the Queen’s Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Art Winters, Colin McDonald Cameron LeGrandeur, Cary LeGrandeur, Dan LeGrandeur and John Davis. John Davis gave the eulogy. Ken Davis traveled from Peachland, B.C.
Mae was predeceased by her husband Shorty Perry; her daughter Shirley Laycraft; her Mother Amanda Sorge; and her sister and brother-in-law Eva and John Davis.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Kenney (Terry); son-in-law Don Laycraft; grandsons Jeff (Allison) and Greg (Shandell) Laycraft; and three great granddaughters.
She will be greatly missed by her niece Kay LeGrandeur (Dan); and nephews John (Barb) Davis and Ken Davis (Sandy) and their families.
Mae and Shorty began their married life in Fort Macleod where Shorty worked for Jenkins Grocery Store.
They moved with Jenkins several times and ended up in Exshaw where they ran the store with Post Office and the telephone office. Mae ran the telephone office.
Mae later moved to Calgary where she spent the rest of her life. John in his eulogy told the favourite fun stories of her life.
Following the service a lovely lunch was enjoyed by family and friends where stories and pictures were shared.
