Wilson, Mildred I.

Mildred I. Wilson passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie; her son Warren; her parents Arnold and Gladys Saunders; sister and brother-in-law Rita and Clifford Scansen; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dell and Trix Haakenson, Hazel and Hector Labrie and Vernon and Annie Wilson.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Bill) Kereluik of Swift Current, Sask. and their children Calvin, Sherry and Carolyn; daughter Vivian (David) Hughes of Fort Macleod and their children Brett, Scott (Coleen) and Tim (Amanda); daughter-in-law Caren of Creston, B.C. and her children Neil, Randy, Sandra and Shane (Michelle); 13 great grandchildren, Stephanie Kereluik (Barrett), Tamara Kereluik (Blaine), Darren Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Ricki and Brennan Hegel, Danny and Jacob Wilson, Lucas and Jordyn Hughes, Mathew, Erick and Randy Jr. Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was born and raised on a farm south of Crichton, Sask. where she attended school. She worked in the grocery store and post office in Crichton and looked after the children of the owner prior to getting married.
Mildred married Leslie Wilson on April 20, 1939 and they owned and operated a hardware store until 1964. They made several moves while her husband worked construction. While in Moose Jaw she worked at a golf course and curling rink and in the restaurant.
In 1968 they moved to Calgary and from 1971 until 1982 they managed the Blackfoot Mobile Home Park. In 1982 they retired and moved to Lethbridge. Mildred moved to Fort Macleod in 1987 after Leslie passed away.
Mildred was very active in the United Church and the UCW for many years. She enjoyed doing crafts and visiting with friends and family.
Friends met with the family at Eden’s Funeral Home Monday, Dec. 10 from 8 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services were held at Trinity United Church on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. E. Van Zyl officiating.
Interment followed in the Union Cemetery in Fort Macleod.
