Abramenko, Ernest (Ernie) Samuel

Ernest (Ernie) Samuel Abramenko (1928-2008) of Fort Macleod passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years.
He is survived by his sister, Ola; his sons Robert (Heather), Perry (Phyllis) and James (Rebecca) and their mother, Bette; and 12 grandchildren, Daniel, Bradley, Marcus, Wendy, Evan, Michael, Scott, Lexy, Elizabeth, Sullivan, Julian and Noah. Ernie is also survived by many friends.
Ernie was born in Trochu, Alta. and raised in Armstrong, B.C. He commenced employment with Canadian Western Natural Gas in Fort Macleod in 1956 and retired in 1988 in the position of Supervisor, Agencies-Operations (Fort Macleod).
He was a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Rotary Club (president in 1960). For several years he acted as assistant fire chief.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, photography and travel.
Ernie will be missed by his family and friends. It was Ernie’s request that a funeral not be held. Instead a celebration of life gathering will be held at Trinity United Church Hall (220 Р20th St., Fort Macleod) on Thursday, March 20, 2008, from 2-4 p.m.
