Heal, Allan George

Allan George Heal, Major RCAF (retired) C.D.; P.Eng. E.E., born in Granum on June 30, 1927, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, with family at his side.
Husband of 58 years to Charlotte (Tompkins); dear father of Christine, Paddy (Doug) and Don (Heather); dear grandfather of Kimberly, Melanie and Jeffrey; Nat and Leah; Ben and Rachael.
Allan was the eldest of six children: Tom (deceased), Alice (deceased), Jack, Albert and Dianne.
Allan was raised in Fort Macleod and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1946 where he became a pilot. He flew several types of aircraft and also served as a flight instructor.
In 1954, Allan entered the University of New Brunswick and graduated as an electrical engineer. He returned to the RCAF in 1958 as a telecommunications officer and then retired in 1973.
Following retirement from the RCAF, Allan worked at Andrew Antenna Company Ltd. for 17 years.
Allan enjoyed many happy years with his family and friends at their cottage on the Big Rideau Lake. He also enjoyed travelling with Charlotte to many countries over the years.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends paid respects at Kelly Funeral Home, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata, Ont. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
