Hannah Borthwick, beloved wife of the late Jack Borthwick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
Hannah is survived by her children Marlene Widmer, Doug (Carol) Borthwick, Skifty (Wendy) Borthwick; grandchildren Tyler (Sonja) Borthwick, Travis (Teresa) Borthwick, Rob Widmer, Joe (Cindy) Widmer and Colleen Widmer; as well as nine great grandchildren; brother Cliff (Norma) Provo; and sisters Arleta Wrubleski and Verna.
Besides her beloved husband Jack, Hannah was predeceased by her parents Frank and Sadie Provo, siblings Ralph and Ivy, and son-in-law Don Widmer. Hannah was born on Sept. 9, 1924 in Claire, Sask. She grew up on the family farm close to Wadena, SK.
Hannah came to Fort Macleod in 1945 to visit her brother who was stationed with the airforce and met the love of her life, Jack, who was with the army also stationed in Fort Macleod.
Hannah spent most of her life in Fort Macleod until failing health forced her to move to assisted living facilities in Lethbridge; first at Blue Sky Lodge and the last six years under the wonderful care at the Park Meadows Good Samaritan Village.
Hannah was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 60 years.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009, at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 Fifth Ave., Fort Macleod, with Rev. Eras Van Zyl officiating.
