MacPheat, Louis Alexander

Louis Alexander MacPheat of Fort Macleod, beloved husband of Anne MacPheat, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the age of 80 years.
Lou was born in Bulyea, Sask. on Feb. 23, 1929 to Beatrice and Ronald (Scotty) MacPheat. He grew up on a farm in Marrietown, Sask., often riding a horse to school a few miles away.
Lou married Anne in Calgary and they spent 59 years together. He and Anne were blessed with four loving children and many grandchildren. After spending time in Edmonton, Fort St. John, Vancouver and Calgary, they moved to Fort Macleod in 1969 where he lived until his passing. Lou loved to travel in his motor home, socialize and visit with his many family and friends. He enjoyed camping and fishing whenever possible and had a keen interest in the activities of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lou was especially fond of family birthdays and holidays. He was an affiliate of the Masons, the Shriners, the Good Sam Club and O.E.S.
Besides his loving wife Anne, Lou is survived by his three daughters, Heather Hudson, Cindy MacPheat and Tannis (Rob) Gunderson; one son, Stuart (Nola) MacPheat; 10 grandchildren, Wayne and May Hudson (Heather), Kira and Ben O’Sullivan (Cindy), Robbie, Karlee and Kristen Gunderson (Tannis), Shannon, Matthew and Christine MacPheat (Stuart); and also two great grandchildren, Emanuel and Jessica Hudson (Wayne). Lou was predeceased by his parents Beatrice and Ronald (Scotty) MacPheat. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at the United Church in Fort Macleod with Rev. Eras Van Zyl officiating.
