Moltzahn, Eileen (nee Kane)

Eileen Moltzahn, nee Kane, of Fort Macleod, beloved wife of the late Julius Moltzahn, passed away at the Fort Macleod Hospital on Monday, April 6 at the age of 75 years.
Eileen was born May 15, 1933 on a farm near Ponoka. She attended grade school there and went to the University of Alberta in 1950 where she received her teacher certification and then taught in one-room schoolhouses in Tees and Bentley.
In 1953 she married Julius, had two children, and settled in Fort Macleod in 1958. While teaching full-time, she took night and summer session courses and received her Bachelor of Education degree in 1975 from the University of Lethbridge. She taught mostly grade one for 31 years at W.A. Day school.

Eileen was very involved in the community contributing to many organizations and taking numerous craft classes. Once she and her family moved to an acreage in 1969, she could indulge in her love of gardening and raising numerous cats and dogs.
Eileen was caring and loyal and loved by all her knew her.She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Brian) Shore; son Brian (Patricia) Moltzahn; and grandchildren Graham Shore, Andrew Shore, Lee Moltzahn, Megan Shore, Adam Moltzahn and Devon Moltzahn.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Church with Rev. Eras Van Zyl officiating. Eileen’s family would like to thank all her wonderful friends and care-givers who made her last days so comfortable.
