Nelson, Claire Katherine

On Thursday, July 9, 2009, Claire Katherine Nelson, wife, mother, daughter and sister passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years.
Claire will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend Roy and their precious children Paul (Gwen), Linda (Don), Rick (Karen), Debra (Bob) and Shawn (Deana).
Claire was predeceased by her son David (Cristy) and granddaughter Kristina. She is also survived by her brother Norman and sisters Doris and Lillian. Claire will also be forever remembered by her 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Claire was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 29, 1934. In 1955, she met and married Roy Nelson. Claire and Roy with their five children made their home in Fort Macleod in 1968.
Claire and Roy lived in many different areas of Canada and in 1982 Roy and Claire decided to return to Fort Macleod where they raised their sixth and youngest child Shawn.
While in Fort Macleod, Claire enjoyed working for eight years at the Fort Macleod Hospital. Once she retired, she became an active member of the Anglican Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir every Sunday. Claire also liked spending her days sewing, cross-stitching and visiting with family and friends.
A heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all of the many friends and family who visited Claire over the years. The family would also like to extend a very special thank you to all of the wonderful care-givers at the Chinook Regional Hospital and the staff at St. Teresa’s Villa. As well, a very special thank you to Dr. David, Dr. Vanderpoll and Dr. Wilde. Arrangements and care by Eden’s Funeral Home. A celebration of Claire’s life will be held on Monday, July 20 at 1 p.m. at Christ Church Anglican at 320 21st St., Fort Macleod with Rev. Noel Wygiera officiating.
