Veitch, Arthur David

Arthur David Veitch of Fort Macleod, beloved husband of Vivian Marie Veitch, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at the age of 75 years.
Arthur was born in Mannville, Alta. on Aug.t 30, 1934. He grew up on a small farm and moved at the early age of 15 years to work on a neighbouring farm. He later moved to Edmonton where he married his beloved wife of 50 years. They moved to Fort Macleod in 1962 and raised their sons.
Art worked as a journeyman automotive mechanic at Scougall’s Garage and completed his career with Trans Canada’s rural gas service. Active in the Fort Macleod community Art served for 15 years with the Fort Macleod volunteer fire department and was an active member of the Holy Cross Catholic parish and served as a honourary member with the Knights of Columbus.
Art’s passions revolved around his love for his family, his grandchildren, and the outdoors.
Besides his wife Vivian, Arthur is survived by his three sons, Martin Veitch, David (Pam) Veitch and Wayne Veitch; grandchildren Meghan Veitch, Brianna Veitch, Alanna Veitch, Tianna Mutter-Veitch, Shelby Wetstyn, and Dillon Wetstyn; his sisters Betsy Colter, Gladys Hansen, Kathleen Seely, and Valarie Heyer; and brothers Keith Veitch and Bob Veitch as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Arthur was predeceased by his parents Blair and Kathleen Veitch (Murdoch). A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Holy Cross Church, Fort Macleod, with Father Marino officiating.
