Wallis, George William

George William Wallis, formerly of Fort Macleod, passed peacefully away in Edmonton surrounded by his family Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at the age of 80 years.
George is survived by his wife Mabel Wallis; five children, Heather (Bob) MacMillan, Avril (Don) Peterson, Grant (Shelley) Wallis, Leslie Wallis and Kent Wallis.
George is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. George received a Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Alberta and a Masters degree in history from Oregon.
He became a school teacher and served at various schools in Saskatchewan before coming to Fort Macleod as vice-principal in 1956. He became principal in 1962 before moving to Vermilion in 1967 to act as superintendent.
George played on the Fort Macleod Broncs hockey team and coached many school sports teams. He had many fond memories of his friends and time spent in Fort Macleod.
