Burdett, Gerry

Gerry Burdett, age 70, of Fort Macleod, passed away on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, in Okotoks, Alberta.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 643 – 20th St., Fort Macleod. Cremation. Eden’s Funeral Home assisting the family.
Geraldine Ann Gunderson was born to Gilbert Sylvan Gunderson and Agnes (Clark) Gunderson on May 30, 1940. She was the second youngest child in a family of 13.
Gerry received her schooling in Fort Macleod. She was married to Kenneth Turr Burdett on May 3, 1958. They lived on a small farm south of Fort Macleod. In 1965, they moved to Ken’s father’s farm, near Monarch, and started farming with irrigation.
Gerry was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life. She liked word games and puzzles, she loved a good game of crib. Her favourite time of the year was Christmas, when the family would gather, eat good food, play games and laugh. She enjoyed having her grandkids at the farm so she could bake and play games with them.
Gerry is survived by her children, Jim (Charlene), Dan (Lyn), Mike (Sharon), Crystal (Dan) Burger, Lisa Burdett and Jeff (Julie); 23 grandchildren, Kim (Darcy) Rempel, Paige (Tyson) Knauf, Lindsey (Brett) Zielinski, Anthony (Christie) Burdett, Candice (Jorden) Holst, Kirsten, Braden, Kayla, Logan, Marleesa, A.J., Allyson, Sarah, Seth, Shane, Jaxson, Danielle, Amanda (Andrew), Scott, Nick, Connor, Sylvan and Brynn; and three great grandchildren, Austin, Camryn and Jade.
Gerry was predeceased by a grandson, Shem Isaiah in 1995, and her husband, Ken, in 2005.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Foothills Hospice at Okotoks for the excellent care and compassion that Nanny received during her last days on earth.
