Edgar, Lawrence (Larry) Denis

Lawrence (Larry) Denis Edgar, 75, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully but sooner than expected after a battle with cancer, on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 in his home surrounded by family.
Born Sept. 13, 1934, in Fort Macleod, he was son of the late Agnes (Cyr) and Allen Edgar and brother to Elaine and Ellen.
Larry is survived by his wife Winnie Edgar (Hnatiuk); children Dale (Karen), Dawn (Andrew), Barbara (Brady); and six grandsons, Ben, Matthew, Stephen, Evan, Aidan and Rowyn.
Larry was a proud Albertan with cowboy roots and an accomplished businessman. He had a successful 30-year career with Mobil Oil, which began in Calgary, and led to work experiences in Libya, Norway, Scotland, England, Newfoundland and concluding in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Larry loved his family and had a passion for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting in British Columbia and Alberta. He was an avid gardener; the fruits of his labours were much appreciated by his family and neighbours.
A member of the Oilfield Technical Society, Larry enjoyed many fun years curling at both the Mayflower and Dartmouth curling clubs and bowling with his friends.
A sports fan, Larry loved the CFL and never missed a Calgary Stampeders game.
His family expresses appreciation for the care and kindness of his medical and nursing staff, as well as the Red Cross. Arrangements have been entrusted to A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 28.
