Jones, Orva May

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, Orva May Jones (nee McNeil).
She was predeceased by her husband Clarence in 1994 and her daughter Margaret in 1996.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Brian (Linda) Jones and their sons Robbie (Tammy), Ronnie (Sonja), and Kurtis (Carla), grandchildren Breanne, Jilana, Casha, Michael, and Ryden.
Orva is also survived by her son-in-law Maurice Amyotte and granddaughter Monique (John) Cadonic; sisters Margaret (Betty) (Bill) Cameron, Mary (Jim) Ruller); brother Alfred (Coleen) McNeil; as well as many cousins and friends.
Orva was born Nov. 19, 1918 at Fort Macleod. At birth she weighed less than two pounds but was a survivor and reached the age of 91 years. Orva lived her younger years with her parents and grandfather at the store at Stand Off. On Oct. 25, 1939 she married Clarence Jones and resided at the Jones family farm east of Granum, where they raised their children Margaret and Brian. In 1981 they retired to a home in Fort Macleod. She resided at Macleod Pioneer Lodge at the time of her passing. Orva loved animals, especially her dear cat (Maggie). She was an excellent knitter, and spent countless hours making this and that, her most recent project a fuzzy scarf was on display at the lodge last week.
She loved family gatherings, plants and flowers and attended all social events she was able to.
At this time the family would like to thank the Pioneer Lodge staff, Home Care staff, friends and family members for their care, thoughtfulness, and friendship offered to Orva. You are all special. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 Fifth Ave. Fort Macleod with Rev.d Eras Van Zyll, officiating. A visitation took place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Cremation followed, with interment to be held at Granum at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to S.P.C.A., Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.
