Hugh McAllister of Calgary, born Feb. 24, 1924, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at the age of 86 years.
Hugh was born in Fort Macleod and grew up on the family homestead in the Porcupine Hills.
Hugh married Betty Bernhardt in 1949 and together raised Sharon and Debra in Fort Macleod.
Hugh and the family moved to Calgary in 1966 so he could continue his profession as a truck driver. Hugh was proud of retaining his professional licence until he was 80.
Upon retiring Hugh spent many hours refinishing furniture and crafting woodworking projects for friends and family.
Hugh was a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather. Hugh is survived by his loving daughters Sharon (Steve) Sabey of Calgary and Debra McAllister of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Alex, Carmen, and Julia Sabey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Hugh was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 2004.
Hugh’s friendship and kindness will be missed by his family and many close friends.
