Mr. Leonard “Skip” Field of Fort Macleod, beloved husband of Rita Field, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at the age of 90 years.
Skip was a great man with a gentle soul. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to all. He was our everyday “Hero.”
Born March 15, 1921 and having lived in the Fort Macleod area for all his life, he was well known and respected in the community. Skip worked for the Department of Highways for many years and after that was a familiar face at the UFA gas station.
Skip was a proud veteran of World War Two and an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
On Aug. 7, 2011 Skip celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Rita — a testament to their loving relationship.
Skip is survived by his wife, Rita; his children, Don (Sonia) Field, Cindy Seerup and Coreen (Terry) Herring; his grandchildren Lindsay and Courtney Field, Holly (Brad) Srayko, Jody Seerup, Chad (Angie) Seerup and Tyler Herring; and his most precious great-grandchildren Fynn, Rowan and Brody.
Skip is also survived by his sister, Daisy Young.
Skip will always be remembered for his love of life, his contributions to the community and his dedication to his family.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 Fifth Ave., Fort Macleod, on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 with Rev. Pilar Gateman officiating.
