Macleod residents invited to community celebration

Fort Macleod residents are invited Saturday, Dec. 10 to enjoy a free turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
The second annual Community Christmas Celebration runs from 3-7 p.m. at the Fort Macleod and District Community Hall.
Staff of Synergy Land Services along with other volunteers from the community will serve Christmas dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, buns, coffee, tea or juice, and apple or pumpkin pie for dessert.
Santa Claus will be present so children can share their Christmas wish lists.
There is no charge for the meal, but donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Fort Macleod food bank.
The idea for the Community Christmas Celebration began last year when staff at Synergy Land Services in Fort Macleod were discussing ways to give back to the community around the holiday season.
The idea of a community Christmas dinner was raised, and once others in the community heard about the plan volunteers came forward and businesses and organizations offered donations.
Last year the event realized a profit and donations were made to the women’s emergency shelter in Pincher Creek and Fort Macleod Kids First Family Centre.
Anyone who wishes to donate cash, food or Christmas supplies, or to volunteer at the event, should call Synergy Land Services at 403-553-4165 or send a cheque payable to Community Christmas Celebration to Synergy Land Services, P.O. Box 1481, Fort Macleod, T0L 0Z0.
