Eileen Martinuk

Johanna Eileen Martinuk, beloved mother to John Robert (Ruth) Martinuk of Airdrie and Joseph Edmond Martinuk of Pincher Creek, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Friday, July 22, 2011, in Pincher Creek.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, George Martinuk; sister Anna Gross and brother Arnold Jordan.
Eileen, who is a long-time resident of Pincher Creek, was born Feb. 1, 1916 at Fort Macleod. Her family homesteaded in the Porcupine Hills. Eileen received a certificate of appreciation, recognizing her as an Alberta pioneer, from Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Premier Ed Stelmach.
Eileen worked as a school teacher in various one-room school houses for about 10 years.
Eileen married George, who proudly served in the Canadian Navy until 1952. She raised both boys in Lethbridge.
Her last five years were spent under the loving care of the staff of Vista Village who are truly angels on earth. Mom is dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Pincher Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 30 at 1:30 p.m. with reception to follow at the funeral chapel.
