Renowned Canadian fiddler Scott Woods from Fergus, Ont. will be pulling into Fort Macleod on Saturday, May 28 to deliver a live presentation of his new show “All Aboard!”
Woods will perform at 7 p.m. at the Fort Macleod and District Community Hall
“All Aboard!” is an old-time fiddle variety show featuring Canadian Open and Canadian Grand Master Fiddle champion Scott Woods and a band of talented performers.
The show delivers a collection of old-time fiddle music in the style of Canadian fiddle icon Don Messer, along with traditional country songs, gospel favourites, trick fiddling and some sensational Canadian step dancing sure to delight all.
Woods studied classical violin from age four.
Woods also plays several other instruments, but his favourite is fiddle — whether it’s classical, jazz, big band, country, swing, Celtic, or old-time music.
Woods’ love of fiddling has been passed down through six generations of his family.
Woods can turn somersaults and step dance while playing the fiddle.
For seven years Woods was the musical director and played the part of Don Messer in “Memories of Don Messer’s Jubilee” which toured extensively in Canada.
Two-time winner of the Canadian Open Fiddle Contest, two-time winner of the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championships, and Canadian Fiddle Entertainer of the Year in 1999 are perhaps Woods’ most prized titles. However, he has won competitions and performed throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.
The Scott Woods Band travels across Canada each year performing a limited number of engagements, all of which help to support churches, charities and other community groups.
This concert will raise money for Holy Cross Parish Hall in Fort Macleod.
