Thibert, Gerry

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Gerry Thibert in Calgary on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011.
Gerry was born on May 20, 1937 in Turner Valley and lived his early years in Fort Macleod. He moved to Lundbreck when he was in Grade 9 and spent the rest of his life living and working on the land he loved.
Gerry married Agnes Langemann on July 8, 1961 and they were privileged to have spent over 50 years together.
Gerry also leaves to mourn his passing, his three children, Joanne (Wes Kaminski), Julie (Jeff Klotz) and Doug (Twyla Schmal) and his six grandchildren, Chris, Justin and Lyndsay Driol and Jenny, Molly and Matt McKeen.
Gerry is also survived by his siblings and in-laws, Corrine and Ken Palmer, Lauraine and John Law, Romeo and Carol Thibert and Rob Thibert and Laurie Parsons. He leaves also many nieces and nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Gerry is predeceased by his parents, Romeo and Juliet Thibert.
Gerry’s first love was his family. His greatest joy was to be surrounded by his “chicks” as his mother always called her kids. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his grandkids and looked forward to every visit and phone call. The times spent with his siblings and in-laws were always a joy to him. His close-knit family supported him, loved him and heartily enjoyed his sense of humor and “Gerryisms.”
His friends were precious to Gerry and a great part of his last few years were involved with the Windsor Heritage Centre and the activities there. He also loved the land and the work in the fields and tending the cattle. Farming was all he ever wanted from the time he was young. He always marvelled at the miracle of life as the planted seed grew to maturity.
Gerry will be sadly missed especially by his wife and family. His passing leaves a great empty spot but at every gathering the wonderful stories and memories will keep him very near to our hearts.
A memorial service and celebration of Gerry’s life was held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at the Pincher Creek Community Hall at 1:30 p.m. Those wishing to remember Gerry with a donation may want to consider Canadian Diabetes Association c/o Ames Insurance, P.O.
