Van Den Biggelaar, Andrianus (Adrian)

Andrianus (Adrian) Van Den Biggelaar, beloved husband of Gerda, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the age of 78 years.
Besides his loving wife Gerda of 56 years, Adrian is survived by his son Andy (Carol) and their children Danny, Ginger (Karl) Wright, son Burt (Gerry) and their children Meagan, Alisha, daughter Helma (Bill) Hart and their children Gelein, Alec, James, son Brian (Lori) and their children A.J., Shelby, Alanta; sisters Joan (Tom) Molenar, Add (Jost) Labadie and Annie (Andre) Van der Hoek; brothers Rienus (Riet), Burt (Bea), Wally (Leonie), John (Riet), Tony (Bea) and Willie (Lieke); as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Adrian was predeceased by his parents Ann and Janus; sisters Annie Van der Hoek and Add Labadie; and brothers Rienus and Burt.
Adrian was born on May 12, 1932 in Breda, Netherlands to Ann De Wyse and Janus Van Den Biggelaar. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 and married the love of his life Gerda in Edmonton in 1953.
In 1972 Adrian and Gerda began to operate the bakery in Fort Macleod, named Macleod Family Bakery. They were the proud owners, along with their family, for 15 years.
Adrian enjoyed curling, camping, bocce, gardening and fishing as well as the company of many friends and family. He also took great pleasure in working at Fort Steel, B.C., during the summer months for three years.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Trinity United Church, 220 20th St., Fort Macleod, with Rev. Eras Van Zyl, officiating.
