It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ada Bergen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, on Sunday, April 8, 2012.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by Henry, her loving husband of 58 years; her eight children, Bob (Diane) Bergen, Barb (Dave Whitney), Cathy (Jim Clarke), Doug (Karen) Bergen, David (Joyce) Bergen, Shirley (Tim Lynnes), Rod (Patti) Bergen, and Marianne Bergen; her 18 grandchildren, Carey, Darren, Jeremy, Bobbi-Jo, Ashley, Christie, Lisa, Justin, Cody, Kyle, Richard, Tasha, Britney, Jonah, Devon, Brody, Kyla-Rae, and Kari-Lynn; her 12 great grandchildren, Maya, Kace, Abbey, Griffin, Ella, Avery, Olive, Jeran, Tristan, Sophie, Demian, and Ryder; her brothers Don and Jerry and her sister Gladys.
Dorothy was predeceased by her son Carey Bradford.
Dorothy was born on Sept. 11, 1934 in Gull Lake, Sask. and married Henry in November 1953. They started their family in Millicent, Alta. and made their way to the Crowsnest Pass in 1957 where they raised their family.
Dorothy was actively involved in Brownies and Girl Guides for many years and enjoyed sewing, curling, crafting and gardening. More than anything, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family.
After retiring, they spent 12 years in Drumheller and have lived in Fort Macleod since 2004.
The family would like to express their immense gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Fort Macleod Community Care Beds.
It was Dorothy’s request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Albert Cancer Foundation 1A 129, 960 – 19th St. S., Lethbridge, T1J 1W5 or to the Fort Macleod Handibus Society, c/o P.O. Box 881, Fort Macleod, T0L 1Z0.
A private family service was held.
