Bunton, Ileen

Loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Ileen Bunton passed away at Fort Macleod Extendicare on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, after a brief illness.
Ileen was born on Sept. 18, 1919 in Taber and lived in southern Alberta all of her life. She met and married Frank Bunton, the love of her life, and together they raised a family of six children.
Frank and Ileen farmed at Spring Coulee for several years before moving to the Mud Lake ranch at Fort Macleod.
Following their love of dancing, Frank and Ileen were instrumental in teaching and starting square dancing at the Spring Point Community Hall and made many friends in doing so.
Eventually they moved into Fort Macleod, where Ileen was employed at the local hospital as a cook. She was fondly remembered by many for her wonderful meals and desserts.
Ileen was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1983; her youngest daughter Wendy in 2006; brother Leo Gommerud; and sister Faye Cooper.
Ileen is survived by her children Sharon (Eric) Forner, Judy (Joe) Woodward, Shirley (Gerry) Gallant, Linda (Brian) Jones and Ron (Leila) Bunton; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Fort Macleod Extendicare, Box 189, Fort Macleod, T0L 0Z0, where Ileen received loving and compassionate care for the past six years.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 Fifth Ave. Fort Macleod, Rev. Eras Van Zyl officiating.
