Chapman, Stan

Stan Chapman passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital with his family at his bedside, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Left to mourn is his loving wife of 41 years Jacquie Chapman; son Steven Chapman of Vernon; daughter Jennifer Chapman (Don Jones) of Vernon; grandsons Tyler and Gabe of Vernon; sisters Kathleen Woods of Calgary, Fran McMullen of Richmond and Robyn (Bill) Doerksen of Kamloops; sisters-in-law Cheri (David) Gibbons of Delta and Linda Coyle of Calgary; mother-in-law Thea Chapman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Stan was preceded by his father Frank Chapman; mother Betty Clarkson and brother in law Randy Coyle.
Stan was born Feb. 23, 1951 in Calgary and received his education in Nanton and Fort Macleod, where he met and married his high school sweetheart Jacquie. Their son Steven was born in Lethbridge where Stan worked for a short period with CPR.
They then moved to Abbotsford, B.C. where their daughter Jennifer was born. While in Abbotsford Stan completed his training with BC Tel. and worked for AGT in Grande Prairie, OK Tel (BC Tel) in Revelstoke and finally with Telus in New Westminster. Stan retired in 2006 after 33 years with the telephone company.
Stan was an avid hockey fan, player and coach and enjoyed his time as a volunteer firefighter in Revelstoke.
Stan thoroughly enjoyed the past five years of retirement, taking care of his beautiful yard, camping at Sugar Lake, forever renovating his house, meeting friends for coffee and spending time with his family.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel, 5605 – 27th St., Vernon, B.C., V18 8Z5 on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 1 p.m. Phone 250-542-1187.
