Community Futures, ATB challenging entrepreneurs

Community Futures and ATB Financial last week announced a partnership to support local business through the Chinook Entrepreneur Challenge business planning competition.
Now in its eighth year, this is a great opportunity for businesses to obtain free training on building a sustainable business plan and possibly win from the more than $40,000 in cash and prizes.
“Community Futures is thrilled to have ATB Financial come on as a platinum sponsor this year,” said Darlene Sinclair, general manager of Community Futures Lethbridge region. “They are a perfect partner for this competition — our mandates are both focused on supporting rural Alberta through our small and medium sized businesses.”
Chinook Entrepreneur Challenge is a southern Alberta program for anyone starting or expanding a business.
Business plans are due April 30 and the final awards presentations will take place June 14.
“One of the fundamental pillars of entrepreneurial success is a solid understanding of all aspects of managing and owning a business,” Sinclair said. “The Chinook Entrepreneur Challenge program covers everything needed in developing a sustainable business plan. The odds of winning $10,000 to invest in your business and your future are amazing.”
Registration is free. Eight training sessions will be held Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9 p.m. starting Wednesday, Feb. 1 through March 28.
“It is the legendary Alberta entrepreneurial spirit that makes this province great,” said Gary Friesen, regional Business manager of ATB Financial. “We have supported Alberta businesses achieve success for over 70 years and welcome the opportunity to help these entrepreneurs make their dreams come true.”
