Court, Lowell

Lowell Court passed away quietly on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, in Calgary, with family at his side.
Lowell was born July 1, 1941 at the “Galt” in Lethbridge to Lowell J. Court and Thelma D. Cahoon (Daddy Lowell and Tommie) of Raymond, deceased.
Lowell is survived by his dearest eternal companion Opal (Orr); their four beloved children, Aaron (Juanita) Court, Mara (Darryl) Bennett, Tom (Anna) Court and Andy (Kaly) Court; eight absolutely amazing grandchildren, Adin and Josie Court, Natalie, Alyssa, Shantelle and John Bennett, Otto and Atlas Court; and his dear Sister Geraldine (John H. Jack) Duell, and their family.
A professional electrical engineer, Lowell worked in various consulting firms for over 40 years. Lowell also had a passion for journalism and was the first Canadian student to attend the summer session of Journalism at Northwestern University, Chicago in Evanston, Illinois. Lowell subsequently worked at the Lethbridge Herald before studying physics and Engineering at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
Lowell enjoyed playing the organ for over 55 years in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other denominations. As a C.A.P.T. Certified Piano Technician he also tuned pianos in B.C. and Alberta for over 30 years.
Patient, stalwart and steady in life, Lowell was no less so during his illness. His sense of humor and support of his family endures. His last words were, “Going up . . . Going Up.”
A memorial service for Lowell will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fort Macleod Chapel, 643 – 20th St., Fort Macleod at 1 p.m. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lowell may be sent to: Calgary Health Trust, Home Palliative Care Suite 800, 11012 Macleod Trail S.E., Calgary, T2J 6A5. Cheques made payable to Calgary Health Trust with a note to direct to Home and Palliative Care in memory of Lowell Court.
