Hewitt, Esther

Esther Hewitt passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the age of 89 years.
Esther was born July 14, 1923, the fifth child of Johanne and Klemmen Pedersen. She had a happy childhood growing up on the family homestead at Park View, north of Waterton Lakes Park.
In 1953 Esther married Douglas Hewitt, initially residing at Buffalo, Alta., before moving to Granum where they lived until retiring to Fort Macleod in 1985.
Esther enjoyed visits with friends and family, outdoor activities (gardening, hikes and walks in Waterton Park), as well as artistic pursuits such as drawing, painting, handicrafts. As a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her family was very important to her and she was especially proud of the accomplishments of her grandchildren.
Esther is survived by her husband, Douglas; daughters, Joanne and Pauline; grandchildren, Chris (Melanie), Michelle (Sean), Melisa; great grandchildren, Amethyst, Chelsea, Andryea, Olivia, Nathan; and her brother Harry.
Esther was predeceased by parents, Johanne and Klemmen Pedersen; sisters, Magde, Alma, Helen and Anna; and her brother, Albert.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Denise, Gerald, Kira and Chelsea Joel for their friendship, loving care and support over the years and especially during Esther’s recent illness.
A private family memorial service will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Esther’s memory to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O. Box 4700 Station South, Edmonton, T6E 9Z9, or a charity of one’s choice.
