Laurie Donaldson

laurie donaldson

Laurie Donaldson was born March 10, 1952 to Gerda and Michael Trojan in Belgium. In the wake of the war they immigrated to Canada one year later and made their home in Fort Macleod where Laurie was raised.
Laurie was a part of the first graduating class from F.P. Walshe school in 1970. Afterwards, she went off to university, having an ear for music and a passion for languages. As many people find their way in post secondary education, she ended up completing her education degree and taught for her entire career in Lethbridge School District 51, until her retirement last year.
Laurie departed this life on Monday, May 6, 2013, after an intense battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her loving father Michael Trojan.
Laurie leaves behind her mother, Gerda Trojan; her daughter, Chelsea Donaldson; two grandsons Cian and Carter Segboer; and a host of other loving relatives and friends to cherish her memory.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Trinity United Church, 220 20th St. Fort Macleod, with Rev. Eras Van Zyl officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in Laurie’s memory to Wilson Middle School Breakfast Program, 2003 Ninth Ave. N., Lethbridge, T1H 1J3 or St. Michael’s Health Care Centre, 1400 Ninth Ave. S., Lethbridge, T1J 4V5.
