A man charged with indecent exposure makes his first court appearance today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, in Fort Macleod.
Fort Macleod RCMP arrested the 29-year-old man Wednesday after getting a complaint about 3:30 p.m. that youths had witnessed a man performing an indecent sexual act.
RCMP said the youths were walking home from school near F.P. Walshe school when a man driving a blue car approached.
The youths immediately reported the incident to their parents, who contact the RCMP.
Sgt. Brent Hawker and Cpl. Bryan Mucha said in a news release that co-operation from the parents helped police locate the suspect vehicle and man and make the arrest.
Hawker and Mucha said that co-operation was critical in helping the RCMP make a quick arrest.
Schools in Fort Macleod were notified about the incident and reviewed personal safety practices with students, such as walking with a friend or in groups, advising adults of their whereabouts and anticipated time of arrival
The man appeared before a justice of the peace after being charged and was released on conditions that require him not to have contact with young people.
James Jonathan Bryshun, 29, is charged with two counts of indecent exposure to persons under the age of 16.
