Jesse Daniel Smith passed away on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at the age of 26 years.
Left to mourn are his parents Dan and Wendy Smith, brother Adam and Porky; grandma Joanne O’Sullivan, grandma Victoria Gillis, aunty Cathy (Terry) Dorekson, uncle Johnny (Lonnie) Yorgason, uncle Barry Yorgason, uncle Bernie (Karen) Davis, uncle Wayne (Denise) Davis, uncle Johnny Davis; cousins Angela (Ernie) Higbee, Megan (Eric) Hardy, Nicholas Yorgason, Taylor Yorgason, Natasha Yorgason, Josh Davis, Alisha (Paul) Davis, Mack Higbee, Greyem Higbee, Cameron Higbee, Emerson Hardy and Isabella Hardy.
Jesse was born on Aug. 31, 1987 in Fort Macleod where he lived and received his education, graduating from F.P Walshe school with high honours.
Jesse spent his whole life pursuing his passion and love for skating. Jesse skated nationally and internationally receiving many medals and awards. Skating took Jesse many places, including touring nationwide professionally with Disney on Ice.
Jesse shared his love for skating by teaching others until his sickness would no longer allow him to.
Jesse being a perfectionist excelled at all his talents. A beautiful pianist who mastered every piece of music he played.
Jesse also loved spending time with his family usually playing cards or bingo. You always played by Jesse’s rules though.
Jesse was a very kind and caring individual who greatly impacted the lives of so many.
Jesse fought a courageous battle with cancer and will sadly be missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 13, 2013, at the Fort Macleod Arena, 235 21st St., Fort Macleod, with Rev. Eras Van Zyl officiating.
