Barr, Blair

Blair was born in Fort Macleod on Sept. 11, 1930 and died peacefully in his sleep at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, in Calgary.
Blair is survived by his children Gail, husband Jason, son Calvin and wife Krista, grandchildren Ally, Emma and Marijke; brothers Lloyd (Donna) and Norm (Peg); and sisters Elma (David) and Merna.
Blair was predeceased by his sister Evelyn and wife Mary Ann (Marijke).
Born on a farm in southern Alberta Blair found his way to Calgary where he worked for the city.
Blair’s wife Mary Ann passed suddenly in 1989 after 25 years of marriage.
Blair worked with the Calgary Genealogical Society after that and met Marmi with whom he spent many years travelling and meeting many family members all over North America. Marmi passed in 2002 and Dad was alone again.
Blair’s last love was Frankie, his neighbour and confidant. Blair and Frankie shared many times together including two weeks before his passing when they travelled to Kelowna, B.C. for his son’s wedding, his final celebration in a long and wonderful life.
A strong man until the end, Blair will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at The ARC, 240 90th Ave. S.E., Calgary on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at 1 p.m.
