The 2014-’15 Centre Stage Series continues in Fort Macleod on Saturday, Oct. 25 with a performance by Juno Award-nominated singer-songwriter Chloe Albert.
Albert takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Empress Theatre in the second concert in the series organized by the Empress Theatre Society.
Albert, who will perform with her band, was Edmonton Music Awards Female Artist of the Year.
“The first time I heard Chloe sing — at a sound check a couple of years ago — I knew she was a talent to be reckoned with,” Empress Theatre director Tim Ranson said. “I am delighted that we could find a date that worked for us both.”
Albert earned a 2014 Juno nomination for her independent album Dream Catcher, which last year earned the No. 1 spot on CKUA Radio’s most played list.
At the 2014 Edmonton Music Awards, Albert took home Album of the Year for Dream Catcher, as well as awards for female artist of the year and folk/roots recording of the year.
Albert was recently nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award in the roots solo recording of the year category.
Albert released her first CD, Dedicated State, in 2008, which earned her an award as emerging artist of the year from the Canadian Folk Music Awards, received plenty of airtime on CBC Radio and CKUA.
The concert series, which has a distinct Alberta theme in its line-up, opened in September with a performance by blues singer-songwriter Tim Williams of Calgary.
The concert series continues at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 with a performance by Steve Coffey of Vulcan.
Foothills Brass will perform Thursday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the fourth installment of the concert series.
