Terry Frank Daniel Herter of Fort Macleod, beloved husband of Kim Herter (Gray), passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the age of 55 years.
Terry was born in Fort Macleod on April 14, 1958, son of John and Erva Herter.
Terry will be forever missed by his loving wife, Kim as well as their children Mason, Auna and Ryan. He will also be missed by his sisters Karen Dillon and Sharon (Rob) Asuchak; nephews Kelly Herter, Robbie (Tara) Asuchak and Arran Gray; nieces Bunny MacNeill (Scott Simmons), Deanna (J.D.) Jenkins and Jennifer (Mike) Schaaf; his mother-in-law Joyce Gray; as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Terry was born in Fort Macleod, graduating from F.P. Walshe high school and later attending SAIT in Calgary. His working career began at a young age working alongside his dad at his service station. Various other jobs afforded his passion for cars. Terry then worked for the Department of Highways, now Volker Stevin, where he became superintendent. He took great pleasure and pride in the highways and public that he served for more than 36 years.
Terry was a member of the famous “Sweat Socks” team, which involved numerous activities like golf, baseball, ball hockey and “outhouse races.”
Terry was a very loving and passionate man; he loved getting together with family and friends. He became a father figure later in life and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the children. Terry married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Kim, whom he loved dearly.
Terry is predeceased by his parents John and Erva; brother Bob; sister-in-law Adrienne; brother-in-law Pat Dillon; father-in-law Bob Gray; and brother-in-law Britt Gray.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Trinity United Church, 220 20th St., Fort Macleod, with Rev. Eras Van Zyl officiating.
