Keith Sutley of Fort Macleod, beloved husband of Deb, passed away peacefully after an illness on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the age of 67.
Besides his loving wife Deb, Keith is survived by his two daughters, Tami Sutley and Sandi Toepfer (Dennis) and one son Rick Sutley (Haley), as well as his grandchildren Shaynna, Kayllie, Reed, Serenity, Courtney, Aleah and Jenna; one sister Lorna Giltner; sister-in-law Marilyn Sutley; two brothers, Gary Sutley and Ron Sutley (Debbie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Keith was predeceased by his parents Bud and Ruby Sutley, brother Ken Sutley, sister Marlene Sutley, brother-in-law Terry Giltner and sister-in-law Gail Sutley.
Keith was born in Lacombe, Alta. on Aug. 11, 1947. He grew up with five brothers and sisters on a farm east of Alix.
As a young man Keith left the farm to work as a surveyor before he began his career as a power lineman.
Keith met and married Debbie Lea on Sept. 4, 1971, and they had three children that they raised in Alix surrounded by family and friends.
In 1985 Keith moved to Yellowknife to work for ICG Power. The family joined him in July 1986 and they stayed until 1992. Keith began to work for Valard in 1991 and he and Debbie moved to Grande Prairie in 1992.
In 1998 Valard took Keith and Debbie to Fort Macleod. Together they became avid members of the community as Rotarians during which time they hosted and were counsellors to many exchange students.
Keith enjoyed hiking, canoeing, golfing, photography and anything that involved the outdoors. His family and friends were the most important part of his life with his grandchildren and his love for Deb being his greatest joy; they had been married for 43 years.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Trinity United Church, 220 20th St. Fort Macleod, with Pastor Eras Van Zyl officiating.
