Train cars derail east of Fort Macleod

CP crews are at the scene of a train derailment Thursday morning 11 kilometres east of Fort Macleod.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team of investigators to the crash scene near Pearce.
Officials are tight-lipped at the scene, saying only that the derailment is “under investigation.”
Nine connected cars are on their sides just off the north side of the track between Range Road 250 and Range Road 251.
Another three cars that are not connected are on their side on the south side of the track.
Thirteen cars remain on the track further east of the derailment scene.
CP had six trackhoes at the scene removing debris, including parts of the derailed cars, on Thursday morning.
CP crews are also using saws to cut broken parts of track so it can be replaced.
The derailment is not interfering with traffic on the range road, although CP vehicles and equipment are parked alongside.
