Fort Macleod Art Club held its annual show and sale of members’ work on Friday and Saturday.
The work of Lucy Bedingfield, Dena Carlsen, Heather Dodd, Flory Fraser, Margaret Gosling, Renelda Kemp, Dianne Litle, Sheila Macklin, Evelyn McTrowe, Adri Reimers, Dwight Taylor and Judy Taylor was displayed at the Scout Hall.
Fort Macleod Art Club was organized in 1980, with the first meeting held at the home of Dorothy DeBoer.
Early members were Irene McCaugherty, Winne Lockard, Dorothy DeBoer, Dora Story, Flory Fraser, Sippy Meindertsma, Adri Reimers, Kerry Miller, Lilly Middleton, Edith Seal and Grace Skelding.
Meetings were held at members’ homes with art lessons arranged.
In addition to monthly meetings, the club has held camp-outs at the Rawlings ranch and Canyon Church Camp at Waterton.
The Fort Macleod Art Club now meets the first Monday of every month at 1:30 p.m. at the Scout Hall.
The club organizes workshops in order to foster the development of members.
Anne McClelland of Mountain View led a workshop on watercolour and mixed media, for example.
Don Opp of Claresholm led a workshop on photography.
Another Claresholm artist, Julie Strong, presented a workshop on watercolours.
Karen Richter of Calgary led a session on acrylics.
Laura Anderson-Stuart led a workshop on watercolours and acrylics, and Bob Croskery presented one on the same subjects.
In addition to the annual show and sale, the Fort Macleod Art Club has displayed members’ work at the Fort Macleod Arts Building, the health care centre, the Empress Theatre office and other locations.
New members are welcome.
