A Fort Macleod man is in critical condition in Foothills Hospital in Calgary with severe head injuries from an attack.
Fort Macleod RCMP and forensic specialists were at the Heritage Motel on the west end of Main Street late Friday afternoon.
Police crime scene tape was across the door to a unit on the east wing of the motel, and forensic investigators were photographing the scene.
Police have several people in custody while they continue their investigation.
Fort Macleod RCMP were called about 9:30 a.m. Thursday to a report of an injured man at the Heritage Motel.
“It was obvious that he had been assaulted,” Cpl. Bryan Mucha said.
The man was treated at hospital on Thursday and then released later that day.
On Friday the police were called to the hotel again with a report of an unresponsive male.
One of the other residents of the motel saw a man on the floor through an open door to the room and called police.
RCMP found the same man who sustained injuries on Thursday, unconscious on the floor of a room at the Heritage Motel.
The man was rushed to Foothills Hospital in critical condition.
Mucha said it is not known whether the man was the victim of a second assault Friday.
Police have not released the man’s identity but did say he was living at the Heritage Motel.
Anyone with information should contact Fort Macleod RCMP.
