Singer-songwriter Lucas Chaisson of Cochrane will perform April 12 at Cafe Orange in Fort Macleod.

Alberta singer-songwriter Lucas Chaisson will perform Sunday, April 12 at Cafe Orange in Fort Macleod.
The 20-year-old Chaisson, who is from Cochrane, is touring in support of his new CD “Telling Time.”
Produced in Nashville by Grammy winner Colin Linden, “Telling Time” highlights Chaisson’s songwriting, and distinctive vocal delivery.
Combining a seamless blend of folk, roots, blues and country flavours throughout, “Telling Time” has a Canadiana feel with an Americana sound.
This recording illustrates Chaisson’s unique sound and features the versatility of his tasteful guitar styling’s filled with texture and dynamics.
“Growing Pains,” Chaisson’s previous release, received attention across Alberta and around Canada.
This was a great follow-up to his debut recording “No Loitering” and EP “A Far Cry From” which both received Canadian Folk Music Award nominations for Young Performer of the Year.
In November 2012 Chaisson became one of only seven Alberta artists to win a Canadian Folk Music Award.
Chaisson’s music has received local and national airplay on stations such as CBC, CKUA, CJSW and CJSR. His latest release has also garnered the attention of commercial radio, with tracks in regular rotation on UP 97.7.
Chaisson was declared a “must see” on the prestigious Folk DJ List at the 2012 International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis.
Chaisson was one of 22 chosen artists to represent Alberta to the annual conferences in Toronto 2013 and Kansas City in February 2014, both with official showcases.
Chaisson is again invited as a part of the Alberta group to the 2015 Folk Alliance Conference in Kansas City.
The songwriting showcased on Chaisson’s studio recordings and ability to make an emotional connection with his audience has garnered him the opportunity to play venues such as the Edmonton, Calgary, Canmore and Winnipeg folk festivals.
These strong showings have also led to performances at The Epcor Center for the Performing Arts, the Arden Theatre and numerous folk clubs and venues across western Canada.
Braden Gates will open for Chaisson at Cafe Orange.
