Dorothy Oleksiuk of Meadow Lake, Sask. (most recently of Fort Macleod) beloved wife of the late William Oleksiuk, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at the age of 87.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Rena Ronald (Barry); son Wayne Oleksuik (Sandra); daughter-in-law Ellen Oleksiuk; grandchildren Cade (Kathy) Ronald, Garth (Tammy) Ronald, Ora (Travis) Skappak, Orrin (Jennifer) Ronald, Levi Ronald, Jayson (Tammi) Ronald, Ian (Katie) Ronald, Ryan (Kristie) Oleksiuk, Eric Oleksuik, William Oleksiuk and Michelle Oleksiuk; 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Besides her loving husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Ernest Salicon and Marie Knox; brothers Joseph, Henry, Armand, infant Joseph; sisters Margaret and Lily; son Mike Oleksiuk; and great grandson Jaxon Ronald.
Dorothy was born Nov. 27, 1927 in Meadow Lake, Sask. She married William Oleksiuk on July 31, 1950 at the age of 23, and they farmed on the outskirts of Meadow Lake while raising their family of three children.
Dorothy became a hairdresser and she worked in Meadow Lake at the Cameo House and then out of her home salon for many years.
Dorothy moved from the farm into town in 2007 enjoying many years of living close to her grandchildren, then moved to Fort Macleod in 2010 to live near her daughter.
Dorothy loved to bake, garden, working as hairdresser, curling, bowling, and getting out and about in her car.
Dorothy enjoyed getting together with her family and loved to visit with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Grace United Church, 502 Sixth Ave. West, Meadow Lake, Sask. with Rev. Jane Jupe officiating.
A private family interment of ashes will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Meadow Lake, Sask.
