Eleanor (Nell) Pinder of Fort Macleod, beloved wife of the late George Pinder, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the age of 92 years.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter Linda (Ed) Davis; son Doug (Debbie) Pinder; grandchildren Tim (Patty) Davis, Lisa (Duane) Douglas, Shawn (Erin) Pinder, Shelly (Jon) Kozub, and Michael (Erin) Pinder; great grandchildren Justin Douglas, Connor Douglas, Kayleen Douglas, Brayden Davis, Dustin Davis, Sara Kozub, Kaitlin Kozub, Jocelyn Kozub, Kylie Kozub, Luke Pinder, Reid Pinder, Russell Pinder and Rhys Pinder; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her loving husband Eleanor was predeceased by her parents George and Annie Field, brother Georgie and sister Frances Lemire.
Mom was born in Macleod on March 28, 1922. She was the middle child in of three — Francis, Mom and Georgie — in the family of George and Annie Field. Georgie passed away at a very young age to rheumatic fever, and Mom kept him in her thoughts throughout her life.
Mom grew up in Macleod and graduated from Macleod High. After graduation she married George Pinder and they had two kids, Doug and Linda.
After the war years, Mom and Dad lived on a dairy farm for a while then later moved into town. They lived in several homes including a garage until, with the help of friends, built their own home on 18th Street.
Mom always worked hard and long helping with whatever needed to be done. She spent a few years working at the Eaton’s order office.
Our family was very close with several families in the town and enjoyed numerous activities with them. Royal Purple and the church were very significant parts of her life.
Whatever Mom did, she did with commitment and friendliness. There were many get-togethers involving both work and play. Morning coffee sessions and weekend water skiing provided many conversational highlights. Mom was always there with sandwiches and refreshments.
She was a super mom and grandma to us and an awesome friend to all who knew her. After a few years in Macleod Manor and the Pioneer Lodge she passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday March 13, 2105, at Christ Church Anglican, 320 21st St. Fort Macleod, with Rev. Pilar Gateman officiating.
