Mary Brisby

Mary Brisby passed away peacefully in the company of family at the Chinook Regional Health Centre on Monday, April 25, 2016.
Mary was born on July 16, 1935 in Stockton-on-Tees, England to Arthur and Jane Ann (Nancy) Wilkinson.
Mary met Alfred Brisby when she was 16 and they married two years later on Oct. 17, 1953. Three daughters followed in the next eight years.
In April 1965, the young Brisby family moved to Canada. They settled first near Lethbridge and moved to Granum a few years later.
In Granum, Mary was active with the Royal Purple and as a firefighter’s wife.
In 1992, they retired to Fort Macleod where they enjoyed spending time with their daughters and granddaughter and exploring southern Alberta.
A widow since 1996, Mary loved seeing the mountains and spending time with her family including her two great grandchildren who were the delight of her later years.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, her husband Alfred, her older sister Helena as well many sisters and brothers-in-law.
Mary will be lovingly missed by her younger sisters Joan (Mark) Barrass and Dot (Geoff) Minnikin of Stockton-On-Tees; her sisters-in-law Elsie (Harry) Huettler of Calgary and Joan Brisby of Edmonton; her daughters Ann (David) Kaupp of Lethbridge, Yvonne Brisby of Fort Macleod and Margaret (John Macleod) Murdoch of Nova Scotia; her granddaughter Adrianne (Brad Lindseth) Rice of Edmonton; her two great grandchildren Ian and Grace Rice-Lindseth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary’s friends and family joined in an afternoon tea on May 2 to celebrate her life.
