Van Rootselaar, Lambertus

Lambertus Van Rootselaar, beloved husband of Effie Van Rootselaar, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the age of 89 years.
Besides his loving wife Effie, Lambertus is survived by brothers Case and Bill; children Bill, Rita and their children Robert, Jamie, and Crystal; Alice and Marty and their children Teresa, Julie, and Rosanna; and Rhonda and Conrad and their children Katie, Jennifer and David.
Lambertus is predeceased by sisters Janna, Reintje and Ann; brother Corneilus; grandchildren Rebecca and Randy; and great grandchild Max.
Lambertus Van Rootselaar immigrated to Canada in 1948 and did numerous jobs including beet hoeing, logging, mining, and farming.
Lambertus was married to Effie in 1953 and started farming north west of Fort Macleod on Mud Lake Road. Lambertus in the early years had a mixed farm with dairy cows, beef cows, pigs, chickens and crops.
With hard work the family and farm grew to three children, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Each meal we thanked the Lord for our food and read the Bible.
Dad loved to go to the cattle auction every Tuesday in Fort Macleod to visit with his many friends. Dad saved everything and could fix and repair almost anything with baler twine and electrical tape.
His favourite trip was when he and Effie travelled back to Holland in 1978 to visit family.
Dad loved living free in Canada where he enjoyed the mountain view from his farm that he loved so much. His biggest joy was checking on his cows, his crops, and attending church at the Granum Christian Reformed Church every Sunday.
Condolences will be held between 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 Fifth Ave., Fort Macleod.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the Christian Reformed Church, Granum, with Pastor Henry Veldboom officiating.
“The Lord is my shepherd: I have everything I need. He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water. He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised. Even if I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid, Lord, for you are with me. Your Shepherd’s rod and staff protect me. You prepare a banquet for me, where all my enemies can see me; you welcome me as honored guest and fill my cup to the brim. I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life; and your house will be my home as long as I live.” Psalm 23.
