Brown, George Edwin

George Edwin Brown, the oldest son of Frank and Georgena, born in Macleod on Dec. 24, 1926, passed away on Sunday, July 30.
George, along with his older sister Gloria and younger brother Bob, spent their earliest years in Nobleford and Stand Off, later moving to the west coast, living at Powell River and New Westminster, B.C. A final move brought the family back to the Prairies.
George spent his late teens and early twenties farming and ranching until he met Mary Lou Noel who he married on Aug. 20, 1951. They were married for nearly 64 years before Mary Lou passed away in 2015.
George’s career spanned a range of jobs including a number of years working with the CPR and operating the BA and UFA bulk agencies. He had a long tenure driving the school bus to Pearce and Spring Point, two important communities from his youth.
George’s true passion of course has always been horses. He was an avid roper and earned the nickname “No Time” early on. Horses were an everyday part of his life until finally selling the last of his herd in 2015 at the youthful age of 88.
George is survived by sons Mitch (Cindy), George (Lee), Norman and Harley (Cindy) along with grandchildren Lindsay, Tyler, McCauley, Tess, Randy and Jamie and great grandchildren Zachary, Zoe and Eli.
George is predeceased by Mary Lou two years ago and their son Corey in 2006.
