The arts thrive in Fort Macleod

The Fort Macleod Allied Arts Council founded more than 30 years ago has grown into a hub of activity on Second Avenue in Fort Macleod.
Beyond displaying a wide selection of art from both local and international artists the Allied Arts Center offers a variety of activities for those wishing to explore their creative sides.
The Arts Building is home to affordable art classes for both children and adults ranging from painting through photography to pottery and drop-in fibre arts evenings.
In addition to offering a series of house concerts
featuring artists from around the world, Allied Arts partners with South Country Fair and the Empress Theatre to raise awareness of each other’s activities and to advocate for arts and culture in southern Alberta.
Each fall, the Arts Building plays host to The Art of Food and Wine, a fund-raising event that pairs area chefs, local producers and delicious wines with a silent auction of locally created art.
Each November, Allied Arts organizes the Fort Macleod Christmas Craft Sale, which takes place the same weekend as the town’s popular Santa Claus Parade. The event brings together more than 65 local crafters and artists.
For more information about events and activities, find Allied Arts on Facebook (Fort Macleod Allied Arts), phone 403-557-2443 or drop in to the Arts Building at 2113 Second Avenue.
