Army cadets hold annual inspection

The 2309 Fort Macleod Army Cadets.

Brigadier General Nic Stanton inspected the 2309 Fort Macleod Army Cadets at the Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre.

The 2309 Fort Macleod Army Cadets marked their 70th anniversary with an inspection and awards ceremony.
Family, friends and community members turned out at Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre to watch the cadets on parade.
Brigadier General Nic Stanton, who was once a member of the 2309 Army Cadets, was the reviewing officer.
“You’re well turned out,” Stanton told the cadets.
Army Cadet League of Alberta southern zone representative Len Lampman presented a special certificate to Legion Branch No. 46 president Ken Fenton.
The Legion has been a sponsor of the 2309 Army Cadets since 1959.
“That is quite an accomplishment,” said Lampman, who was also once a member of the 2309 Army Cadets. “The cadets wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the Legion.”
Lieut. Werner Dressler, who is commanding officer of the 2309 Army Cadets, praised the young people for their work over the past year.
“The outstanding young men and women standing in front of you have done a great job,” Dressler told the audience.
Dressler praised the many volunteers and community members and organizations for their support of the cadets.
“The cadets put all the time in,” Dressler said. “We just make the wheels turn. Great job cadets.”
