percy evans

Percy Meredith Evans was born Aug. 18, 1936 and passed away in Lethbridge on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at the age of 82 years.
Percy was born in Fort Macleod, the second of five children born to Dorothy Vida (Bright) Evans and Joseph Harrington Evans. He attended school in McBride Lake and Fort Macleod. In 1967 Percy took over the family farm where he lived until December 2017.
In 2015 Percy received the Alberta Century Farm and Ranch Award for 100 years of family ranching from 1915 to 2015 (Joseph and Percy Evans of McBride Lake Angus).
Ranching and farming was Percy’s life passion, no stranger to hard work and skilled in all aspects of this life style. Welding, leather and woodwork were some of his hobbies. Percy was an avid reader, excellent marksman and enjoyed a challenge. He was always quick to lend a helping hand to neighbours with chores, machinery repairs or advice over a cup of tea when necessary. His favourite time of year was calving season followed by harvesting the crops and his large garden.
Percy is survived by his ex-wife and friend Edith Evans and stepsons Donald Cook and his children Ryan and Amy, David and Bobbi Cook and their children Stephani (Cameron) Wipf and their children Deegan and C.J. and Keeley, Cassidy and Griffin Cook.
Percy is also survived by his sisters Elsie (Bill) Kaval of Coaldale and their children Joe Kaval and Dorothy (Siemens) Kaval; Eunice David of Lethbridge and her children Lori (David) Westerson, Shelly David and Cameron David; Jacqueline Evans of Lethbridge and her children Ken Huisman, Rand Huisman and Terry Huisman; and Dorothy (Clyde) Matheson of Lethbridge and their children Leslie Matheson and Dan Matheson.
Percy was predeceased by his father Joseph Harrington Evans (1967), his mother Dorothy Vida Bright Evans (1965) and his brother-in-law Ken David (2017).
At Percy’s request, there will not be a formal funeral service. A casual come-and-go meeting will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, from 2-5 p.m. at the Ardenville school.
In memory of Percy, memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, #200, 119 14th St. N.W., Calgary, T2N 1Z6.
