It is with humble hearts that we announce that Carol Lynette Gangur (Orr) passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge at the spry age of 77 years young.
Carol was born on Dec. 23, 1940 in Fort Macleod and was the third child and only daughter of Faunda and Wesley Orr.
Carol grew up in Lethbridge and has a vast extended family originating from Orton.
Carol met her sweetheart, Tom, when she was 16 and they were married on Aug. 15, 1959 and together had four sons.
Carol was charismatic, hard-working and well respected by those around her. She was an avid dart player and known for her infectious laugh, baking skills and love of Christmas. She took great pride in turning her house into Santa’s workshop each year to bring the magic of Christmas to her whole family.
Grandma had the kindness of her mother and shared her heart freely with her loved ones. She shared the family recipes with Dana to ensure oatmeal cookies and squash pie would be part of every family get-together in her absence.
Besides her parents Faunda and Wesley Orr, Carol was predeceased by her brothers Gary and Darwin and her infant son Gary Thomas Gangur.
She will be dearly missed by her husband and best friend of nearly 59 years Tom Gangur; her three sons Dave (Brigette), Rick (Ruth) and Darren (Jeannette) Gangur; as well as her grandchildren Dana (Carl) Holland, Tyler (Nikki) Gangur, Taryn Meyer, Miranda, Tabitha, Lydia and Kaylaina Gangur-Powell and great grandchildren Adriana Gangur and Dawson and Piper Holland.
Carol will also be missed by her two brothers Edwin (Lorraine) Orr and Vern (Janice) Orr; sisters-in-law (Gillian Orr) and (Darlene Gangur); brother-in-law Jerry (Angie) Gangur; as well as a large extended family.
Grandma’s biggest legacy is her family and the unconditional love she shared with all of us. She will be lovingly remembered for her beautiful laugh, personal phrases, genuine kindness and the joy she had when surrounded by family.
We will all miss her very much but know she is with us always. It has been an honour and privilege to have had her beautiful soul in our lives and her memory will forever live on within us.
We wish to invite those who have been touched by Carol to attend a celebration of her life on Wednesday July 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Side Chapel, 2213 Sixth Ave. N., Lethbridge.
