Kretzer, Marion

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our dear mom and grandma, Marion Eugenie Kretzer (nee Bratton), who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018.
Marion was born in Spring Point on June 24, 1942. She grew up on the farm, working with her family and went to high school in Fort Macleod.
Marion met the love of her life, Herb, in Fort Macleod in 1959 as she worked as an AGT operator and Herb was a new constable for the RCMP. After frequent phone conversations, the two began dating and the rest is history.
Marion wins the award as “best supporting actress” as she supported her husband and cared for her children and her home through eight RCMP transfers, including a foreign posting in Bonn, West Germany.
Marion’s joy was in her family. Her three children, Janice (Sheldon), Judy (Peter) and Greg (Samantha) and her grandchildren Kirsten, Preston, Sydney, Andrew, Pearce, and Imogen. Gathering at Grandma’s house was always the best!
Marion was predeceased by her husband and best friend of 54 years. She had such a difficult time living a life of meaning without her Herb.
She is also survived by her sister and good friend Bernice Hedley and her brother Lloyd Bratton.
Marion relocated from Leduc to Canmore in 2016 where she enjoyed the proximity and frequent visits of family and the mountain environment. She loved her family beyond measure, loved making music and listening to music, and she loved to cook, providing amazing meals and times together for her family.
A weekend to honour Marion is being planned for May 18-20, 2019 in Banff-Canmore and at Spring Point. Family and friends will be informed of the details as they are made.
In lieu of flowers in Marion’s memory, please send a donation to Calgary Health Trust in support of the Southern Alberta Renal Program,, 403-943-0615  800-11012 Macleod Trail S, Calgary, T2J 6A5.
